About Platform & Define Compile Matrix Guard
- Tools, Systems & Learning > Development Tools & Automation
What it helps you do
Read asmdefs, define constraints, platform filters, C# preprocessor conditions, and package versions.
Build a small covering matrix instead of testing every theoretical combination.
Compile each configuration with Unity's Roslyn toolchain without switching the active build target.
Name the exact condition, assembly, platform, defines, file, and compiler error.
Detect impossible asmdef constraints, undefined symbols, and code paths no reachable configuration can compile.
Cache clean cells, split the matrix into CI shards, and merge deterministic evidence.
Export JSON, Markdown, and self-contained HTML reports.
Use it when platform-only code breaks late, feature defines multiply, asmdef constraints become hard to reason about, or one CI job cannot afford the whole matrix.
The tool compiles; it does not build, link, run, or certify a player. A clean matrix proves the planned compile cells passed, not that every possible define combination or platform runtime is correct.
