About Mesh Constructor: Draw Call Optimizer & Scatter

The Mesh Constructor is a multithreaded editor and runtime utility designed to procedurally scatter existing prefabs and physically fuse their geometry into unified static meshes. Populating large-scale environments requires massive amounts of geometry. While Unity's native GPU instancing is highly effective for rendering repeated meshes, relying on thousands of individual GameObjects to build a dense forest canopy or a sprawling field of grass creates a severe CPU bottleneck. The engine must still calculate the transform data, culling state, and memory footprint of every single active object before passing it to the GPU. This tool addresses that specific overhead. Rather than relying solely on instancing, the Mesh Constructor acts as a static geometry baking engine. It algorithmically packs prefabs and physically welds their vertices together, completely eliminating the individual GameObject overhead. By compressing thousands of objects into a single mesh, it reduces massive amounts of active draw calls down to a single batch, freeing up CPU threads for actual game logic. Procedural Scattering: Rather than manually placing thousands of objects, feed a pool of existing prefabs into the engine and select a mathematical placement strategy. Included algorithms include Poisson Disc for evenly distributed non-clumping placements, Spirals using phyllotactic distribution for botanical layouts, Crop Rows for agricultural field structures, Fractals using recursive L-system branching for organic structures, and Shapes and Perimeters for geometric primitive constraints. The engine automatically applies randomized uniform scale and independent Y-axis scalar multipliers to every placed instance for organic, non-repeating appearance. Scene Geometry Fusion: For hand-placed objects, use the tool as a traditional mesh combiner to optimize existing scene hierarchies. Build environments normally by hand-placing prefabs, then select those objects and the Constructor welds them together into a single optimized static mesh. The engine provides three rendering pipelines: Full LOD Group Generation systematically extracts and fuses every level of detail from source prefabs, Grass Mode strips away high-poly layers for massive low-poly coverage, and Hierarchical LOD preserves original interactive prefabs at close range while transitioning to fused static mesh at distance. The Constructor is built strictly for static architecture and will bake skinned meshes into their current active pose, permanently stripping out all skeletal rigs, bone weights, and animations. Material fragmentation is not improved by fusion; fifty prefabs using fifty unique materials will still require separate render passes unless source prefabs share common materials or texture atlases.
