About FLOW

  • Tools, Systems & Learning > Learning & Tutorials
  • Theme > Stylized
FLOW is a GPU-accelerated fluid simulation asset that integrates into projects with just a few clicks and no programming required, featuring step-by-step tutorial and demo scenes to guide users through each capability. The system delivers incredible performance through heavy optimization with GPU acceleration, batching, and caching, ensuring consistent fluid simulation regardless of scale, with adjustable resolution for lower-end mobile devices. It supports large-scale simulations across kilometer-sized scenes and works seamlessly with terrains and custom 3D objects via collider and layer selection. Users can dynamically add, move, or remove blocking objects using the FlowObject component, causing the fluid to react automatically, which enables dam creation and flow redirection. Full source code is included for those who wish to modify the easy-to-access API. A buoyancy system allows objects to float or sink with hydrodynamic drag and upright torque, while edge rendering creates a miniature or diorama look by simulating fluids sliced from a larger piece. Underwater rendering provides seamless camera transitions with controllable fog distance when the camera goes beneath the surface. A low-poly rendering mode offers a faceted fluid style alongside smooth realistic options. Unlimited fluid types can be created with full control over color, viscosity, and opacity, and multiple fluids mix seamlessly when they collide. Wetness simulation realistically depicts ground saturation and gradual drying, supported by included shaders and materials. A drain modifier removes fluid from specific areas, pulling nearby floating objects toward the drain hole and can also remove fluid above or below a set height. Fluid forces can freeze simulations or direct movement in a specific direction using custom shape or mask textures. Fluid data such as height and color can be read asynchronously at any 3D point via the FlowSample component, with the ability to detect fluid type based on a list of possible fluids. Fluids can be painted under the mouse or finger using the FlowDrawModifier, which supports all modifier features including draining and adding forces. Fluid triggers allow custom actions when fluid levels reach specific areas by adding the FlowTrigger component and connecting its inspector events, requiring no coding. Additionally, FLOW includes a dedicated particle system that interacts with fluids, storing fluid information and enabling streams that convert to fluid upon contacting the surface or ground.
