About Asset Workflow Toolkit

Asset Workflow Toolkit

Asset Workflow Toolkit is an Editor-only productivity toolkit for technical artists, tool developers, designers, and asset managers who need to inspect, organize, and batch-process Unity project assets.

Build reusable, modular workflows that process selected assets, Prefabs, scene objects, and components step by step. Preview supported changes before execution, save frequently used configurations as templates, inspect dependencies and reverse references, and reduce repetitive asset-management work directly inside the Unity Editor.

The toolkit does not add components or code to built players.

Key Features

Asset Browsing and Filtering

Load assets from the current Unity selection, append additional objects, and filter or sort results by object type, path, name, display state, selection state, and version-control status.

Dependency and Reference Inspection

Inspect serialized object references in selected assets, Prefabs, scene objects, and components. Review dependencies, reverse references, and nested relationships, then quickly locate related objects in the Unity Editor.

Modular Batch Workflows

Combine processing modules into reusable workflows. Reorder modules, create different processing chains for different object types, preview supported results, and save configured workflows as templates.

Batch Renaming and Asset Organization

Rename assets using prefixes, suffixes, string replacement, regular expressions, trimming, type-based rules, and automatic numbering. Move assets in batches, create missing destination folders, and preview destination paths before execution.

Prefab and Component Operations

Instantiate, unpack, apply, and save Prefabs. Extract components and perform supported add, remove, or replace operations across multiple GameObjects.

Serialized Property and Material Editing

Read and batch-edit supported serialized properties, including strings, numeric values, booleans, enums, colors, and Vector4 values.

Process supported material properties, including Float, Color, Vector, Texture, and texture Scale/Offset values. Importer-property changes can also be followed by asset reimporting when required.

Asset Lookup and Data Operations

Find assets by path, name, or GUID. Transform workflow data with string and numeric operations for use in naming, organization, property editing, and other processing steps.

CSV and Folder Data Sources

Read CSV fields as workflow parameters or extract folder information for naming, moving, and other batch-processing tasks.

Asset Operation Logging

Track supported asset import, creation, deletion, move, rename, and modification operations. Search and filter the operation history, configure retention limits, and define path-exclusion rules.

Operation logs use the included Mono.Data.Sqlite assembly and Windows x64 SQLite native library. No separate database installation is required.

SVN and Perforce Assistance

Display version-control status for assets and their .meta files, then filter assets by status.

SVN integration supports status queries and common version-control actions. Some graphical context-menu actions require TortoiseSVN.

Perforce integration supports status queries and related operations using locally installed Perforce tools. Some graphical operations require P4V or its command-line utilities.

Version-control integration is optional. Core reference inspection, filtering, workflow, template, renaming, and operation-log features can be used without SVN or Perforce.

Ideal For

Organizing large collections of models, textures, materials, Prefabs, and other production assets
Enforcing naming and folder conventions across a Unity project
Inspecting dependencies and serialized references
Finding assets that reference a selected object
Batch-renaming and moving assets
Batch-editing Prefabs, components, materials, and supported serialized properties
Reviewing SVN or Perforce asset status inside the Unity Editor
Building reusable workflows for repetitive asset-production tasks
Recording and reviewing supported asset operations

Requirements

Unity 2019.4 or later
64-bit Windows
.NET Framework 4.7.1 or later, as provided by a compatible Unity installation
Unity Editor environment

This package is an Editor extension and does not provide runtime or built-player functionality.

The SQLite components required by the operation log are included with the package. No external database installation is required.

Optional Version-Control Requirements

SVN

SVN integration requires an external SVN command-line client that provides the svn executable. The executable must be available on the system path or configured in the toolkit.

Some context-menu actions also require a locally installed copy of TortoiseSVN.

Perforce

Perforce integration requires an external command-line client that provides the p4 executable. A valid Perforce server connection, user credentials, and workspace mapping are also required.

Some graphical actions require locally installed P4V tools.

SVN and Perforce clients, servers, accounts, repositories, licenses, credentials, workspace configurations, and network access are not included with this asset. Version-control behavior depends on the local client configuration, server permissions, workspace mapping, and project setup.

Important Notes

Asset-processing workflows can rename, move, delete, or modify project content. Back up or commit your project before executing a modifying workflow, review all selected assets and preview values, and test new workflows on a small asset set first.
