About Sawd: Procedural Sawtooth Synth Lite

SAWD Lite is a free, fully functional sawtooth synthesizer engine for Unity. No catch, no crippled output, no watermark just a working synth you can drop into a project today and start making sound with immediately.

It exists because buying an audio plugin without hearing it in your project is a gamble.

SAWD Lite removes that gamble entirely.

A real synthesizer, not a demo

Lite is not a 30-second timeout or a feature stub. It is a complete synthesis pipeline: an anti-aliased sawtooth oscillator, a Cutoff Filter with four modes, a sub-octave oscillator blend, an LFO for filter modulation, and a full ADSR amplitude envelope. It is polyphonic, runs on the Unity audio thread, supports DSP-time scheduling for sample-accurate note placement, and handles voice stealing automatically when your voice pool fills up.

For a lot of projects, this is genuinely everything you need.

Try it in your project first

Import SAWD Lite, open the included Sound Stage demo scene, and you will have audio playing within a few minutes. Audition the bundled presets, tweak parameters live in the inspector, and trigger notes from your own code using a straightforward C# API. If the sound fits your project and you want more: more timbral depth, more expressive control, more sound-design tools the Pro edition is a direct upgrade with no migration work required.

What you get in Lite
- A complete sawtooth synthesizer engine ready to trigger from any game system
- The AudioSourceBridge component for zero-config Unity audio routing
- A bank of included presets covering leads, basses, pads, and effects
- A Sound Stage interactive demo scene for auditioning and parameter editing
- A clean C# scripting API: trigger notes, release them, schedule them ahead of time, and query voice state
- Note this does not work on WebGL builds, it works on all Unity platforms that support onAudioFilterRead(), including mobile and consoles pure managed C#, no native plugins

What's waiting in Pro
SAWD Pro is where the sound design really opens up. Every preset you build in Lite plays identically in Pro upgrading adds new capabilities without touching anything you've already made.

Is this right for your project?
SAWD Lite is a strong fit if you need synthesized sound effects, UI tones, simple melodic lines, or a procedural audio foundation that responds to game state in real time. It handles polyphony cleanly, plays nice with Unity's Audio Mixer, and runs on every platform Unity supports.

If you need thick layered pads, expressive bass lines with glide, or rich ensemble textures, those live in Pro. But start here hear what the engine sounds like in your scene, learn the API, and upgrade when you're ready.
