About Odin Inspector and Serializer
- Tools, Systems & Learning > Development Tools & Automation
Odin streamlines Unity workflows by enabling programmers and designers to create powerful custom tools, advanced inspectors, and user-friendly editors without writing editor code.
With over 100 building-block attributes, Odin Inspector lets you create advanced tools quickly. Its Visual Designer provides a straightforward drag-and-drop interface for building and configuring custom inspectors and tools, with templates, examples, and components available directly inside Unity.
Odin integrates seamlessly into existing projects and workflows. Visual Designer configurations are stored in separate, human-readable files, reducing code clutter and boilerplate while simplifying version control, sharing, scaling, and team collaboration. Existing custom attributes and drawers continue to work within Odin's editors.
Odin supports hybrid workflows. Attributes added through code automatically appear in the Visual Designer, where they can be viewed and configured visually.
Odin uses a custom serialization protocol that can serialize supported data by inheriting from SerializedBehaviour, SerializedScriptableObject, and related types, or by adding a small amount of code to existing classes. This includes polymorphic types. Serialization can also be disabled completely when using Odin solely for editor improvements.
Use Odin to rapidly create custom editor windows and inspectors for organizing project and game data. Its validation tools run directly in the inspector, helping teams identify issues earlier, enforce project rules, and customize validation workflows through the Visual Designer.
Odin's powerful list drawer supports arrays and IList implementations with drag-and-drop, item insertion and deletion, multidimensional arrays, tables, cross-list and cross-window item dragging, paging, nested lists, and more.
A flexible API makes it easy to extend and modify inspector drawing. Create custom drawers and entirely new property group types with minimal effort.
Odin Serializer supports Unity platforms including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, WebGL, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Oculus, IL2CPP platforms, and UWP with the IL2CPP backend.
Included attribute categories cover essential properties, type-specific controls, validation, groups, buttons, collections, conditional display, numbers, debugging, and other inspector customization features. These include asset and scene restrictions, custom value drawers, read-only and required fields, searchable properties, titles, type filters, asset selectors, color palettes, file and folder paths, inline editors, tables, toggles, polymorphic settings, conditional visibility and state, range controls, progress bars, grouping layouts, custom context menus, labels, tooltips, callbacks, type selectors, and property settings.
