About Markdown Viewer
- Tools, Systems & Learning > Development Tools & Automation
Markdown Viewer fixes that. Select any .md file in the Project window and the inspector shows it rendered immediately, with real formatting: sized headings, indented lists, monospace code blocks, clickable links, styled quotes, and tables laid out as readable grids. No window to open, no menu to find, no configuration. The moment you select the file, it is just readable.
It is built for anyone who keeps documentation and notes inside their project: solo developers reviewing their own design docs, teams storing specs and onboarding docs next to the code, and especially anyone reviewing AI generated Markdown, where the file exists to be read and you want it formatted the instant it lands.
Reading comfort is the point. Generous spacing, a comfortable line width, and a clear hierarchy between headings and body make a document pleasant to read for more than a few seconds. It reads the active editor skin, so it looks right in both light and dark themes. And the literal source is always one click away, for when you need to copy exact text or check formatting.
Reading while the inspector is busy with something else? Open the standalone Markdown Viewer window from the Tools menu, then drag in a file, pick one from disk, or follow your selection. Building your own editor tools? The same renderer is embeddable, so you can draw formatted Markdown in your own windows and inspectors with a single call.
It works with any text. Plain text and unusual or partial Markdown degrade to clean, readable text rather than breaking, so it is safe to leave on for every .md file, including messy AI output. It never shows an error, never blanks out, and never logs noise to the console.
What this does not do: it is a viewer, not an editor or a diff tool. It does not render embedded images (image references show as clear placeholders) and does not syntax highlight inside code blocks in this version. It adds no runtime or build footprint and ships with zero dependencies.
