The JoseonTongsinsaseon were official vessels used by carriers. Joseon sent its official diplomatic mission to Japan 12 times over about 200 years from 1607 to 1811. The JoseonTongsinsaseon consisted of six ships, each with a large ship, a middle ship, and two small ships. Three of them were accompanied by officials, aides, and secretaries, while the other three loaded the cargo and the remaining personnel. Three ships, each with an official, an aide, and a staff on board, were called Giseon and three ships, each with cargo and the remaining personnel on board, were called Beomseon.
