About Free Flow Combat for Game Creator 2
- Tools, Systems & Learning > Game Templates & Systems
- Theme > Military & Combat
Free Flow Combat is a flexible combat and targeting solution built on top of the Game Creator 2 Melee Weapon System.
It adds a free-flow melee combat layer to your project while remaining fully compatible with Game Creator 2's existing Melee Skills, Weapons, Shields, Instructions, Conditions, Behavior Trees, and visual scripting workflow.
===| DISCORD | DOCUMENTATION |===
Fast and Simple Setup
Equip the player and enemies with a FreeFlowMeleeWeapon, optionally assign the included enemy Behavior Graph, and press Play.
Non-player characters can automatically receive the required Free Flow target, enemy agent, and behavior processor components at runtime. This keeps initial setup lightweight, makes prototyping faster, and allows the system to scale as your project grows.
Key Features
- Weapon-first setup for both players and enemies
- Intelligent melee target selection
- Direction-based attack selection
- Fallback and gap-closing attacks
- Configurable counter windows
- Counter response Instructions
- Enemy attack-token scheduling
- Optional target and counter indicators
- Automatic runtime enemy setup
- Optional camera-frustum targeting filters
- Optional line-of-sight targeting filters
- Ready-to-use GC2 Behavior Tree enemy AI template
- GC2 Instructions and Conditions for runtime configuration
- Support for existing GC2 Melee Skills and weapon workflows
- Built Around Your Existing Game Systems
Free Flow Combat focuses specifically on targeting, combat flow, countering, and enemy pressure. It does not force your project to use a particular damage, stats, inventory, item, or progression system.
Use GC2 Stats, integrate with an inventory system, or connect the asset to your own custom gameplay logic. Free Flow Combat provides the melee combat foundation without locking your project into a rigid framework.
Reduce Repetitive Setup
A similar combat system could be assembled manually using Game Creator 2. Free Flow Combat packages the most common free-flow combat patterns into a reusable and easier-to-manage workflow.
It helps reduce setup friction, avoids repetitive visual scripting, and includes ready-to-customize components, Instructions, Conditions, and AI templates.
Ideal For
- Action-adventure games
- Brawlers and beat 'em ups
- Third-person melee games
- Counter-focused combat systems
- Arena encounters
- Games with multiple melee enemies
- GC2 projects that need smarter targeting and coordinated enemy pressure
Free Flow Combat is designed for creators who want expressive, cinematic melee encounters while staying inside the familiar Game Creator 2 ecosystem.
It adds a free-flow melee combat layer to your project while remaining fully compatible with Game Creator 2's existing Melee Skills, Weapons, Shields, Instructions, Conditions, Behavior Trees, and visual scripting workflow.
