About fastTools
Serialization
1. Serializable Types: store a System.Type in a component or an asset and pick it in the Inspector from compatible types. [TypeSelector] narrows the list by base types, interfaces, abstract and generic rules, and marks a field as required.
2. SerializeReference Selector: pick the class of a [SerializeReference] field or list element in the Inspector. Compatible data carries over when the class changes.
3. ComponentTypeSelector: change an added component to a derived class without losing shared field values.
4. SerializeReference repair: find missing [SerializeReference] references and stored type names across the project and repair them in groups. Build and CI checks catch new ones before release.
5. EnumValues: map enum members to values (multipliers, colors, assets) that you edit in the Inspector, [Flags] enums included.
Editor and tooling
1. ProfilerMarkers: mark a section with using var _ = this.Marker();. A Roslyn source generator builds the marker name from the type, the method and the line of the call.
2. VisualElement Extensions: set element properties, styles and events in a chain and build a UI Toolkit tree in one expression. They also work in a player build.
3. SerializedProperty Extensions: update the object, write a value and apply the change in one chain. Find the C# field behind a property and the object that owns it.
4. Editor Helpers: readable object names without "(Script)" and numbering for components of the same type.
5. Theme Override: recolor the FastTools windows and the type picker with a USS file from your project.
6. Agent Skills: skills that teach a coding agent to write code with FastTools instead of the raw Unity API.
Samples
Five samples import from the Package Manager: EnumValues, Types, SerializeReferences, EditorTools and ProfilerMarkers. Each one is a small scene or editor window with a step-by-step tutorial on the site.
Compatibility
1. Unity 6000.0.53f1 or newer.
2. No dependencies beyond the built-in UI Toolkit module.
3. Works with any render pipeline: the package does not render anything.
