About DataLoom Base - ScriptableObject Spreadsheet Editor
- Tools, Systems & Learning > Development Tools & Automation
WHAT BASE DOES
• Spreadsheet grid - each asset a row, each serializable field a typed column, with virtual scrolling or optional paging for large tables.
• Type selector and tabs - pick any eligible ScriptableObject type and keep several tables open at once.
• Typed editing - numbers, strings, booleans, enums, colours and object references each get the right control, with full Unity Undo/Redo.
• Keyboard-first - arrows to move, F2 or double-click to edit, Enter or Tab to commit, Esc to cancel, Ctrl/Cmd+A to select visible cells.
• Search and queries - bare words, `"quoted phrases"`, and column comparisons such as `level>10`, `rarity=Epic` and `name~bow`.
• Columns and saved layouts - hide what you are not working on and save the arrangement per type.
• Detail pane - inspect the selected asset, walk nested values and follow object references; select an asset in Unity and jump straight to its row.
• CSV export - take the sheet to a spreadsheet app whenever you need to.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS
This is the Base edition. It is the everyday view, edit, search, sort and export loop, and it is complete for that job.
Places where the workbench shows a lock are features that ship in DataLoom Pro: formulas and computed columns, bulk pipelines with diff preview, validation and Data Health, conditional formatting, snapshots and change history, semantic 3-way merge, Google Sheets sync, the AI copilot and MCP tools, code generation and the runtime data API. The Base package contains presentation for those, not implementations - there is no hidden flag that unlocks them.
If you only need to edit your data quickly, Base is enough and always will be. If you outgrow it, everything you learned here is the same workbench in Pro.
TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT
The linked demo is the full Pro workbench running in your browser, so you can see exactly where the line falls before you choose an edition.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
• Editor-only. Nothing is added to your builds.
• Newtonsoft JSON (Unity's official package) is required for settings, saved searches and layouts. If it is missing, a setup window explains it and asks before installing.
• Single-cell copy and paste only. Multi-cell paste, drag-fill and detected series are Pro features.
• No formulas, validation, snapshots, merge, sync, AI or codegen - see the list above.
REQUIREMENTS
Unity 6000.0 or newer. Any render pipeline - DataLoom is an editor tool and draws no scene content.
THIRD-PARTY CONTENT
None. This package contains no third-party fonts, images, audio, icons, shaders, DLLs or native binaries, and no third-party source code.
