About Inspector Units - Measurement Units in the Inspector

  • Tools, Systems & Learning > Development Tools & Automation
Inspector Units makes numeric values easier to understand while working in Unity. Add the [Unit] attribute to serialized fields and display a clear suffix next to each value, such as m/s, s, %, °C, MB, or any project-specific label. This gives designers and programmers immediate context without renaming fields or maintaining separate documentation.

Choose from 227 built-in units covering length, area, volume, time, speed, acceleration, angle, proportion, data, temperature, mechanics, electrical, lighting, and screen measurements. You can also define custom labels for game-specific values such as dmg/s, tiles, XP, stamina, or armor.

Inspector Units supports float, double, int, and long fields, as well as vectors, rectangles, bounds, arrays, lists, nested serializable types, auto properties, and UI Toolkit PropertyFields. Compound fields receive suffixes on each component while preserving Unity’s familiar layout.

The unit display is editor-only. It never changes serialized values, requires no external dependencies, and adds no runtime cost. Inspector Units is genre-agnostic and suitable for gameplay, UI, tools, simulation, and data-driven projects of any kind.
